Neuropsychological Assessment
Neuropsychology assessment is an in-depth review of psychological, behavioural and cognitive functioning. Assessment would include clinical interview to establish pre-injury/diagnosis history and functioning level, cognitive interview to explore strengths and weaknesses in everyday tasks, behavioural observation/interview as required, and psychological evaluation to establish emotional wellbeing/adjustment. Assessment would look to inform a neuropsychological understanding of strengths and difficulties, which can then guide a treatment or rehabilitation plan.
Neuropsychological Rehabilitation
Neuropsychological rehabilitation is the practice of applying psychological principles to understand and facilitate recovery following traumatic injury. Neuropsychological rehabilitation may focus on cognitive, behavioural and psychological recovery. However, it can also inform the management of distressing physical symptoms such as pain, and fatigue, alongside facilitating functional life goals such as return to activities of daily living and vocational roles.
Neuropsychological Consultation
Neuropsychological principles and practice can be applied directly and indirectly with those living with a neurological condition. Neuropsychological consultation is the practice of applying the understanding of neuropsychological difficulties indirectly to help inform those working/supporting people with a neurological condition to live their best and most fulfilling life.
